Yifei Wang

Yifei Wang is an interdisciplinary artist working with moving image and installation. Her practice investigates the encounters that shape intimacy—between humans, between species, and between bodies and the spaces they inhabit. She studies touch as a subtle, relational force: at once tender and ambivalent, stabilizing and destabilizing, capable of revealing how care, vulnerability, and identity are negotiated in the everyday.

The two works presented here—Closer, closer (2023) and Marking, Making, Merging (2024)—form a pair of sister projects. Together, they trace the fragile edges of intimacy: the desire to repair, the impossibility of becoming one, the hesitation before touching a loved one’s face. They are encounters with care that fail, drift, tremble, and begin again.
