THE URGENCY OF ART PRIZE 2026

An open call from The Urgency of Art Magazine — a UK-based independent art publication.

We are searching for urgent voices in contemporary art. Painters, photographers, sculptors, illustrators, digital artists, mixed-media practitioners — anyone, anywhere, whose work demands to be seen now.

Regardless of jury outcome, every entry gets:

✦ Instagram feature on @theurgencyofart A dedicated post showcasing your submitted work to our community of artists, curators, and collectors across the UK and beyond.

​

✦ A permanent place in our 2026 Open Call archive Your work becomes part of the magazine's curatorial record — referenced by editors when scouting future issues, commissions, and collaborations.

​

✦ Editorial consideration for future issues All submitted works enter our internal review pool. Artists not selected for the Prize may still be contacted for upcoming features.

✦ Submission confirmation + entry receipt Sent to your email immediately after payment, with a private link to upload your work.

🥇 FIRST PRIZE — The Urgency Award

Solo Feature in The Urgency of Art, Issue 04 A dedicated multi-page editorial spread in our printed and digital issue, distributed across the UK.

Or

Group Exhibition — London, August 2026 Your work shown alongside shortlisted artists in a physical exhibition in London.

TERMS

  • Entry fee is non-refundable once submitted

  • Judging criteria are at the sole discretion of The Urgency of Art editorial team and remain confidential

  • All entrants retain full copyright of their work

  • By entering, artists grant The Urgency of Art the right to reproduce submitted works in the magazine, on our website, on Instagram, in exhibition catalogues, and in promotional materials related to the Prize, for a period of one year from submission

  • Winners will be contacted directly by email before public announcement

  • The Urgency of Art reserves the right to extend deadlines or modify the Prize structure with reasonable notice

🥈 SECOND PRIZE — Solo Feature on Upcoming Issue

Winner artists will be featured on The Urgency of Art magazine, August issue.

🌍 WHO CAN ENTER

  • Open internationally — any country, any background

  • Any medium — painting, photography, sculpture, illustration, digital, video, mixed media, installation documentation, performance documentation

  • Any career stage — emerging, mid-career, or established

  • No age limit

  • Works must be your own original creation

  • Works may have been previously exhibited but not previously featured in The Urgency of Art Magazine.

  • Early Bird window: 1st of June-8th of June

  • Full Price window: After 8th of June

  • London exhibition: August 2026
