Hey There
Thank you for contributing to The Urgency of Art. We are glad to receive your work and to bring it to our readers. As an independent magazine based in London, we rely on the artists, writers and curators who share their practice with us, and each contribution helps shape what the magazine is. The guidelines below set out how we receive, edit and publish material, so that the process is clear from the outset and your work can reach publication smoothly.

Invitation and Fees
Invited contributors are not charged any fee for publication. An invitation to contribute is not a guarantee of publication. The Urgency of Art reserves the right to decline any submission, including invited contributions, at any stage prior to publication, and is not obliged to give reasons for its decision.
Publication Format
Approved material may be published online, in the printed magazine, or both, depending on whether the relevant issue is produced in print. Contributors may ask us to confirm the intended format before publication.
No layout previews, proofs or design drafts will be provided before publication.
Submission Requirements
Text must be supplied as a Word document (.docx).
Images must be supplied as separate high-resolution files and must not be embedded in the Word document.
Every artwork image must have a caption, including artist name, title, year, medium and dimensions where applicable, and photo credit where required. We encourage contributors to name each JPG file with its caption, for example: Artist Name_Title_Year_Medium.jpg
Please send all material as a single Google Drive link, with access set to "Anyone with the link can view", to info@theurgencyofart.com. Submissions sent as scattered attachments or across multiple messages may not be processed.
Rights and Permissions
By submitting, contributors confirm that they hold, or have obtained, all necessary rights and permissions for the text and images supplied, including permission from photographers and other rights holders. Contributors retain copyright in their work and grant The Urgency of Art a non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce and promote the material in print, online and on social media.
Social Media
Submission constitutes acceptance that the material may be shared on The Urgency of Art's Instagram, including as an Instagram Collab post with the contributor's account. Contributors are expected to accept collaboration invitations when issued.
Editorial Discretion
By submitting material to The Urgency of Art, contributors acknowledge that all editorial decisions, including image selection, cropping, sequencing, captions, headlines, punctuation, formatting, publication date and social media presentation, remain at the discretion of The Urgency of Art.
We may edit, crop, format or select submitted materials according to our editorial and visual direction.
Once material has been approved for publication, further changes may not be possible.
Social media posts, engagement metrics and platform presentation are managed according to The Urgency of Art's editorial strategy and are not subject to contributor approval.
