Cameron Lings' arts practice centres around three interconnected pathways: Sculptural Visualisation of Data, Experimental Sculpture, and Contemporary Drawing. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, he has developed an ongoing body of data-driven artworks that translate statistics relating to current affairs and socio-economic issues into visually engaging sculptural forms.

 

More recently, this research has expanded into mathematical theory, reasoning and probability, exploring how abstract systems can be transformed into tangible visual experiences.

Alongside this, his experimental sculptural practice investigates the relationships between form, material, scale, colour and contrast in response to both natural and artificial environments. Through a process-led approach, he explores how these elements interact to create visually engaging and thought-provoking works.

His drawing practice develops a personal two-dimensional visual language rooted in a background in technical drawing. Characterised by precise linear compositions, these works draw upon minimalism, brutalism and modern design, while acting as both independent artworks and conceptual foundations for future sculptural projects.

Together, these three strands create a research-led practice driven by curiosity and experimentation, exploring the relationship between data, mathematics, materiality and perception through contemporary sculpture and drawing.
